BS EN ISO 9001: 2008
The ISO 9000 family of standards represents an international consensus on good quality management practices. It consists of standards and guidelines relating to quality management systems and related supporting standards.
ISO 9001:2008 is the standard that provides a set of standardised requirements for a quality management system, regardless of what the user organization does, its size, or whether it is in the private, or public sector. It is the only standard in the family against which organisations can be certified – although certification is not a compulsory requirement of the standard.
LABC
LABC is the trading name of District Surveyors Association Limited.
LABC's mission is to ensure that buildings are healthy, safe, sustainable and accessible for all users and tenants whether domestic, commercial or public service.
LABC coordinates the technical application of the Building Regulations and influences new or revised regulations covering new technology, new building methods and environmental performance.
LABC also provides a national marketing function to build awareness of local authority building control amongst the public, developers, designers and contractors.
In recent years local authority building control teams have shifted the emphasis of their work from "tick box" checking at the end of building projects to helping developers, designers and builders to make the best choices when planning projects. This change of emphasis achieves high quality building without annoying and expensive corrections happening late in the construction phase.
Lewis and Lewis Ltd are able to offer a unique partnership with Newport and Cardiff City Council to ensure a practical approach to obtaining Building Regulation approval.
Partnering allows a company (called the Partner Company) to link with a local authority of its choosing (the Partner Authority) for the plans approval of all or any of its projects, so eliminating inconsistency, uncertainty and delays.
GREEN ACHIEVER
The Green Achiever Scheme has been set up to enable companies to demonstrate their credentials to suppliers, customers and any other parties interesting in green business.
'Registered' means that the company has shown intent to reduce its environmental impact. Each of the Registered companies have completed a questionnaire and received a dedicated report outlining their responsibilities.
SOUTH WALES CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The South Wales Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1870, affiliated to the British Chambers of Commerce as the ‘Newport Chamber of Commerce’ and later incorporated under the Companies Act on the 24th April 1884. The Chamber has firmly established itself as Gwent’s most prestigious business support organisation having forged strong links with local businesses over a period spanning three centuries. We are recognised by our peers as a prestigious and valued member of the local business support sector and our merger with Newport & Gwent Enterprise has further strengthened this stance.
The Chamber is owned and directed by its membership and is supported by annual subscriptions. We support and represent hundreds of local companies with the principal aim of helping to make businesses successful, regardless of size, age or sector. Our range of services is designed to benefit your business and offer real savings.
PROMPT PAYMENT CODE
Lewis and Lewis Ltd have recently become an approved signatory of the The Prompt Payment Code.
The Prompt Payment Code is another critical step in a series of structured initiatives devised by the government with The Institute of Credit Management (ICM) to tackle the crucial issue of late payment and help small businesses especially. Suppliers can have confidence in any company that signs up to the code that they will be paid within clearly defined terms, and that there is a proper process for dealing with any payments that are in dispute. This is an exciting development, and we shall regularly monitor its performance to ensure best practice is being followed.
